A Rain Forest in Las Vegas...Not Really!

Imagine a lush, green rain forest setting in the middle of the desert?  Not possible, right?  Oh but it is if you are in Vegas.  Each year, millions of visitors from all over the planet visit Las Vegas.  Many visit on vacation or some just as a quick getaway.  Vegas is a home to many, many, amazing well known restaurants and of course the all you can buffets (YUM but dangerous!). Top chefs when considering opening up a restaurant decide between Los Angeles, New York and Las Vegas.

Though there are many restaurants in Vegas (too much to decide from), one restaurant my husband and I visited is the Rainforest Cafe at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.  As you walk up to the restaurant, all you see is GREEN.  This restaurant is a themed restaurant that allows you to experience eating amidst a rain forest setting.  There are trees everywhere as well as the different animal species you would see in a typical rain forest.  There are elephants, birds, monkeys all over the place.  Of course everything is not real.  Wouldn't that be a treat if it was!  Anyway, they even have cool sound effects like rain throughout the whole place and every so often, thunder.  I think children will really enjoy this setting.

They have a variety of different foods on their menu.  You will find anything from pasta, burgers, sandwiches, steak to seafood.  This day, we got to the restaurant a bit late so wanted to eat something light.  From the photos below, you'll see that our plan didn't quite play out.

I decided to try the "appetizer" lettuce wraps and my husband had the special of the day, steak with coconut shrimp skewers.  The portion was big.  My lettuce wraps were very tasty though a bit salty and my husband of course really enjoyed his steak and shrimp.

Rainforest Cafe has many locations throughout the US including California, Florida, Texas and Washington.  There is even one next to Disneyland in California inside of Downtown Disney.  If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be in a rain forest but not have funds to travel to the Amazon, this may be a close second place.
