S'mores on Wheels

Many of us may not realize that food trucks have been around for a very long time. Think of a typical hot dog cart. Basically this is probably the most simple food truck you'll find. I don't think they were looked at as trendy back in the day as they are now. Food truck events are popping up everywhere. In L.A., there are special events just for food trucks to congregate. People come from all over town just to experience this type of event. Some food trucks even have Facebook and Twitter accounts so die hard fans can follow and find out what city their favorite restaurant on wheels will show up next.

Though I am new to the food truck scene, I think this is such a fun idea! How amazing is it that you can go to an event, hop from one food truck to another trying all kinds of different foods. This may be an ideal solution for families who always have a hard time deciding where to eat. Though there are food trucks that sell very typical foods, a lot of food trucks serve up one of a kind, very unique items. Food trucks vary in their specialties. Some just do appetizers and desserts while others carry a wide range of dishes.

At a local Farmers Market one night, I came across a food truck I knew I had to visit.  The one, the only...The Munchie Machine!  The first thing that caught my eye was that this food truck was very similar in color and look to the Mystery Machine in the popular Scooby Do cartoons!  Though there were other trucks nearby, this truck was definitely a top selling machine!  I couldn't really tell what they were selling until I got closer to the front.  Their specialty was unique flavors of S'mores!  How can there be different flavors in S'mores when the ingredient of this popular campside classic consists of graham crackers, a piece of chocolate and a marshmallow?  Well let me tell you!  At The Munchie Machine, you can choose from an array of different marshmallow flavors which is then melted onto a piece of chocolate then sandwiched in between two graham crackers.  Flavors vary from Caramel, Cinnamon, Coconut and many more.  I just had to have one!  I stood in line for a while but let me tell you, it was well worth the way.  I decided to try the Cherry Chocolate Chip marshmallow.  It was delicious!

Each S'mores costs $3.50.  Though this may seem a bit high knowing the ingredients used to make this dessert, it's definitely worth trying at least once.  The portion is not that big but a good enough size to share so you don't have to feel guilty after.  For those looking for something heartier, The Munchie Machine does sell sandwiches and sides.

So the next time you are out and about and see a truck that looks like the Scooby Do's Mystery Machine, follow it.  You won't be disappointed!
