Five Guys and Their Burger

Have you heard of Five Guys?  No, it's not a beginning of a joke but an amazing, multi-award winning hamburger joint.  We have had one in our valley for almost a year and let me tell you...it's popular.  Our Five Guys opened up in our local Westfield Shopping Mall.

Five Guys was started in the East Coast in 1986 by four brothers.  Soon after opening up their  first hamburger location, they gained a huge following and before they knew it, they were winning all kinds of different awards and was featured as having one of the best hamburgers and fries on different newspapers and magazines.  The Washington Post said that Five Guys is the "Willy Wonkas of Burgercraft."

Similar to In N Out, their menu is simple yet complex.  I'll explain why in a minute.  For starters, they only sell hamburgers, hot dogs, a Veggie Sandwich and Grilled Cheese Sandwich.  What makes Five Guys' menu complex is the ordering process of all the topping you can choose from for each hamburger, hot dog or sandwich item.  It's great for those who like the burgers and dogs loaded!  They have 15 different toppings you can choose from for example ketchup, mustard, grilled mushrooms, green peppers, A-1 Sauce and hot sauce just to name a few.  Another thing to keep in mind is that their "little" burgers is a single hamburger patty where as the "regular" burger is a double patty.  If you are not that hungry, make sure to get the "little" burger.  Sounds small but it really isn't.

  

As for the sides, they have 2 different flavor options for their french fries, regular and cajun style. But beware...their fries are cooked in peanut oil so keep clear from this joint if you have a peanut allergy!  A cool thing about their fries is that everyday, they receive their potatoes from a different farm which they post on the wall when you walk in.  How awesome is it that they give credit to the farmer of the day.  The restaurant is very clean and simple.  The walls have red and white tile and there is hardly any decor.  But what you will see is all the quotes and reviews from different publications that have recognized Five Guys as being outstanding.  The next time you're in the mood for a good burger, skip In N Out just this one time and find the nearest Five Guys in your neck of the woods.  You may just get addicted!
