Recipes on Twitter...Seriously!

Oh the joys of Social Media.  There are so many different social media outlets out on the web right now, many of us have a hard time keeping up.  You may just have a Facebook account and that's more than enough.  But really, the best and fastest way to get information in our world right now is through  Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.  These outlets are often times faster and more accurate than the news and even the newspaper.  We want information NOW, not at 11pm when the local news is on or in the next morning, on the front cover of the LA Times.

Because of these social media outlets, lives have gotten easier as well.  At a push of a button, the exact information you are looking for is found.  The most recent amazing finding for me has been on on Twitter.  It is something called "twecipes."  If you love recipes, this is for you.  Just some educational background on Twitter.  Twitter allows a user to comment or share something in 140 characters of less.  This makes is super challenging.  Many use abbreviations or web code (like LOL for laugh out loud) to get all they want to say to fit within the 140 character limit.  Presenting to you "twecipes."  It's basically recipes that are tweeted on Twitter.  Wow, say that 3 times!  I thought sharing a story or thought was hard in less than 140 characters, try sharing a full recipe.  But people are accomplishing this!

Here is an example by Maureen Evans (Twitter code name @cookbook).

Crêpes: Beat c h2o&milk/4egg/½t salt/2c flr/4T mltdbuttr*. Chill>2h. In buttrd HOT pan@med tilt,spread¼c; brwn,flip. (*+T h2o if too thick.)
Can you decode that?  Allow me.   Crepes, @cookbook instructs us to beat a cup of water and milk, 4 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 2 cups of flour, 4 tablespoons of melted butter.  Chill less than 2 hours.  In a buttered HOT pan at medium temperature, tilt the pan, spread 1/4 cup of the mixture, when brown, flip.  *add a tablespoon of water if the mixture is too thick.  WOW!  My explanation was almost 4 lines where on Twitter, @cookbook's was 2 lines!

I know Twitter might not be your thing or it may seem intimidating but check out tweets by people like @cookbook for some awesome, simple recipes.  If you like cooking and love recipes (like me), you may be entering a world you never thought you would!  After all, if it's less than 140 characters, the recipe's probably pretty simple and fast to whip up!
